Mother's Day Weekend

We spent the weekend down at my Dad's and out on the river. We got stuck in traffic on the way down on Friday and I had to pee so I pulled over and peed in Abi's training potty (that I keep in the car for emergencies). That was a first! Abi thought it was really funny. Then I forgot the kids toothbrushes so we all shared mine all weekend. I think it's time for a new toothbrush......

Papa's awesome boat

Fun out on the Columbia river

Not the best picture of Mt Hood, but it was pretty.

Abi didn't care that the water was freezing, burrr.

Evie loves the water.

Second Mother's Day without a mother.... I was able to walk down the Mother's Day card isle without cringing. But it still sucks. Not even a little, it sucks a lot. Never for a second of my existence I have ever thought my mom didn't love me. If anything she was overflowing with love for us. If I can love my kids the same way at least I can feel like that love lives on. Even if my kids don't even remember silly Grandma, the way she laughed, or how much fun she was. At least they'll have her love passed down through me to them. Unconditional mom love. I do believe it is an invisible super force. That's what I'll always remember most about my mom and what makes a mom great. Guaranteed I'll make mistakes along the way like my mom but I forgave her and so my kids will forgive me. My mom was like a superwoman when I was little she could do everything and knew everything, was outgoing, creative, fun, and smart. If I can be anything like that to my kids then I'll be proud. Although, I know my mom is proud of me matter what. This Mother's Day I just want to thank my mom for loving me so much, I'll carry that love with me always and pass it on my little ones.

Mother's Day 2011, if only she were here to see how adorable and big and
beautiful the grand-babes are now..... breaks my heart.

Feels like summer (lake and aquarium)

Mid 80's on Saturday, high 80's on Sunday (felt like 90) in Orondo. Love the lake.

Swimming and digging, Maggie is smiling.

We sweat our bums off working at the lake this weekend, it was literally running down our arms and faces, but all the work is finally paying off! We took two loads of yard debris to the dump, and we brought one more home with us. We finished the rock wall, moved rocks, dug a sprinkler system, moved dirt, spread dirt, leveled dirt, raked out rocks, planted grass, trimmed trees, cut up wood, laid down yard fabric, and spread bark. Exhausting. Did I mention I was sick all weekend too. I've self-diagnosed myself with a sinus infection but it seems to be getting better (after a week and a half), I think the sun and dry air helped. Both Brad and I have cuts and scrapes from cutting up and loading shrubs in the truck, and are super sore (again) from moving rocks and raking and shoveling. The kids had a good time digging in the dirt and playing in the sun. This will be the last time we are there in the dirt, next time we'll have grass and thick gravel, no more dirt!

Rock wall complete.

Grow grass grow!

Rock border/pile up by the road

Started trimming some trees to get more view, lots more to trim.

Today we went to the Seattle Aquarium with preschool. It was a really nice day to be on the waterfront, although the kids were kind of tired from the weekend and didn't want any pictures.

They got to touch all kinds of sea creatures.

With their buddies Jada and Jackson.

This is the jelly fish tank (it made a big circle you walk through) and you can see them under your feet too. Abi and Ben loved the big tropical tank with lots of giant colorful fish. I loved the seahorses, octopus, and seals.

My baby girl's smile

My sweet Abigail. Her new smile makes me want to laugh and cry. She is too young and sweet to be missing a tooth and have metal in her mouth. I can't help but look at it when she smiles. Her back tooth has a metal band around it and a metal spacer where the missing tooth is so her teeth don't crowd the hole, and her face is still healing from where she scratched it when numb. I know it could be worse a lot of kids knock out their front teeth and her new tooth will come in after a few years. And most of all her smile still lights up a room and warms my heart.

Her eyes look dark but when you really look at them they are kind of dark blue grey, this eye has a green spot middle bottom. I always seem to notice it.

Job with a view. One of the perks of working evenings in a lab with lots of windows that face west is watching the sun set over Seattle. Pretty every night.

If you have the time and you're up for a tear jerker, click on the links below. I wasn't planning on crying today but I'm glad I read it. I like the message :) I've been sad missing my mom lately (like on a daily basis) probably because I just need her support with everything with Abi and life. But this puts things in perspective and I know it's my choice of what I make of it.
