Weekend at the new lake place

This is the only picture I have from our weekend because I forgot to pack our camera. I always seem to remember the most obscure thing and forget the most obvious, except usually it's my underwear or toothbrush. I told Brad on the way over we weren't aloud to have any fun because I couldn't take pictures and we can't have undocumented fun. Although we did have fun and I have no pictures to prove it :(

It was hot, I mean in the hundreds hot and not even a breeze, so there was crabbiness had by all. On the boat or in the water was the only tolerable place to be. We worked in the yard in the mornings, pulled weeds, trimmed trees, sprayed weed killer, planted grass seed, set up sprinklers. Then spent the rest of the day by the water. The kids had lots of fun in the boat and playing in the sand by the water. Abi was getting really brave going deep in the water by herself (with life jacket). It was too hot to cook dinner until the sun went over the hill. It cooled down at night so Brad and I could enjoy wine by candle light under the stars. It was a lot of work but it was nice to be hot for a change and it was beautiful there. Sitting at the table in the trailer there is a perfect, beautiful view of the river. There was a wildfire burning just over the hill on the other side of the river, luckily the smoke was heading the other direction but it was kind of cool to see the helicopters come every few minutes and get water from the river to dump on the fire. We came up with a landscaping plan for the lot, it will be slow going but we have time. We look forward to going back and planting what I call a garden edge around the lot and seeing it transform into a real lake get away.
