Iron man 70.3

It took hours, days, and months of preparation. He trained harder than he has ever trained. He was nervous, worried, and probably a little scared. But he did awesome! 1 mile swim+56 mile bike ride+13.3 mile run=70.3 miles
Waiting before swim
It was a rolling start, so it took 30 minutes for all the swimmers to get in the water. Brad was worried he wasn't very fast so he started near the end.
They swam out and back
A sea of bikes in the transition area.
Swimmers coming in. Everyone had a similar wet suit so I was worried I'd miss him.

Bike transition
Off he goes
I saw him after his first small loop on the bike going out for the big loop.
 Transition to run
He ran through McEuen Park twice so we got to cheer him on, and play at the park.
Dying inside but hiding it while, looking tough going into the last 6 mile lap.
Waiting for him to finish in 95 degree heat. Poor athletes! It was hot for us doing nothing.
Here he comes down the home stretch!
The boys wanted to give high fives.
 To the finish line
Finished! Bragging rights earned.
He didn't even cry. I would of cried like a baby after finishing.
He did say it was the hardest thing he's ever done.
We are so proud of you! #amazingirondaddy #catebeingcate
His stats:
Swim 48 minutes (better than his 60 min goal)
Bike 3:47 (he wanted to average 15mph on bike and did)
Run 2:58 (wanted to run in under 3 hours and did)
Each transition was short too, 10 min for the first 7 min for the second.
Definitely a lot to be proud of! Not only did he survive and complete the race, he did great!

Iron kids race

The kids ran a mile for Iron kids on Saturday and got a fancy medal.

Strawberry picking

We picked berries to celebrate the Summer Solstice. There were a ton of berries at Carver Farms. They were small but very sweet.

Red fingers and mouths for all.

Finally it is in the 90's! Sprinkler and pool time.

Last day of Kindergarten/Third Grade

Summer has officially started!

First Day of Kindergarten
First Day of Third Grade

Happy Daddy Day

Thank you for getting up with the kids at night. I believe I used to be the light sleeper, but rolls have reversed. Thank you for getting up with them more than me, it is beyond appreciated with my crazy work hours. Thank you for writing funny things on my grocery list, sometimes I laugh out loud in the grocery store. Thank you for leaving chunks of belly button lint in the shower just to show me how big they were. Still makes me laugh, and still is ridiculous how much lint you trap. Most of all thank you for being a great Dad. We love you lots!

The most wonderful time of the year!

Summers on the boat, our favorite.
Dad and Barb passed through for a night to say hello on their way home from vacation.

Brad practicing an open water swim for the Iron Man in two weeks.

School is out in one week! I can't wait. No more lunches to pack or busy schedules to keep. But then again the fighting. Trying to be prepared with activities and deep breathing methods.

Is It Possible to Have a Peaceful Summer?

It’s absolutely possible to have a peaceful summer, and you do that by taking control of how you want things to go. You have control—even if the only thing you have control over is yourself. It’s not dependent on how your kids are—it’s how you decide to be. And mark my words: if you’re trying to control your kids, you’re going to have a lousy summer.
